In order to qualify for entry to NZ universities, students must meet the standards approved by the New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (NZVCC). Click here for details.

These standards apply to NZ citizens and residents. Different standards may apply for international students and these should be checked with individual institutions.

CI students must meet each of the following standards:

Numeracy Standard
Minimum grade of D in IGCSE Mathematics (or D grade in GCSE Mathematics or E grade in AS Mathematics).

Literacy Standard
Minimum grade of E in any one of AS English Language, AS Literature in English, AS English General or AS Language & Literature in English.

General Standard

A minimum of 120 points on the New Zealand CAIE Tariff (see table below) at A or AS level from any syllabus groups broadly equivalent to those in the list of approved subjects for NCEA. This must also include a D grade or better in syllabuses from at least three different syllabus groups (excluding Thinking Skills).
